With all the yule tide cheer in the air this time of year, I felt like revisiting a “Christmas in July” wedding I photographed this year. Of all the weddings I’ve attended, this was one that I’ll not soon forget. Jen and Barry (bride and groom) had been planning this wedding for years, patiently waiting until the year 2009 when July 25 happened to fall on a Saturday so they could celebrate Christmas in July. They had planned amazing details, decorations, and surprises for their wedding day, and I loved every minute of it!

I did this wedding as a second photographer to Karen Bowling. It was a special experience because Karen is personally related to the bride! Both families were hospitable and loads of fun, and I enjoyed getting to know them.

The wedding was in Terre Haute, IN on the campus of Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in a beautiful glass chapel overlooking a lake.

The daughter of the bride waits for her mom to come out and greet her. She is pretty enough to be a painting!

The wedding cake had beautiful snowflake details! It really added to the whole “Christmas” feel.

And if you didn’t already know it was Christmas in July, you can ask for more information at the north pole! I thought this was a great decorative touch, and it marked the location of a giant a candy buffet.
