Last week I had the great pleasure of photographing Ashley & Peter’s wedding at Laurel Hall. It was a cold but beautiful winter day with a slight dusting of snow on the ground, the perfect day for a December wedding. Peter has been serving our country in Iraq, and Ashley is from out of state, so my first time meeting this happy couple was actually on their wedding day! I couldn’t have asked for a nicer group of people, and we had a lot of opportunities to make some beautiful photographs in Laurel Hall.

I usually work alone at weddings, but this time I was lucky enough to work with an assistant, Jason. He was holding the light for me in some of these photographs. If you want to see more of Jason’s work it can be viewed here: Jason Mitchell Photography.

Ashley & Peter saw each other before the wedding so that we could spend more time taking pictures. This is the photo of their first meeting. I think this shows the happiness and excitement that takes place the first time the bride and groom see each other on the wedding day- whether it be during the ceremony or before, it’s always a special moment.

Most photographers get a standard shot of the bride and her father walking down the aisle, looking straight at them. Of course I got that shot as well, but then I stepped back and got this one, which I like better because you can clearly see the expression of pure happiness on Ashley’s face!

After the ceremony Ashley and Peter retreated to a private room to spend a few moments together before heading down to the reception.

Peter wears his uniform well- thank you Peter for your service!
