Engagement Portraits - Indianapolis - Mallory and Ray

Some of my favorite moments as a wedding photographer happen months before the wedding, at the engagement session.  The engagement session is my time to spend time with the couple in a relaxed environment before the wedding day.  I learn their stories and their personalities while we explore fun settings to make these casual and creative portraits.  It was truly a pleasure getting to know Mallory and Ray at the Indianapolis Museum of Art on a crisp fall morning.  You can see their happiness and love for one another shining through the photographs!

Pictures in the Park With Garrett & Elliott

Monday, October 19th, 2009

October is a great month for portraits.  The leaves are changing, the weather is crisp, and people are starting to look for Christmas/Holiday gift ideas.  So on a classic October morning I headed to Garfield park to meet Garrett and Elliott, their father, and their dog.  We had so much fun at the park playing, exploring, and making photographs.

Wedding Photography Indianapolis IN

Everything changes after getting engaged.  I know from personal experience that a girl who has never before cared much about clothes and fancy parties can quickly turn into a bride who agonizes over finding the perfect dress, the perfect rings, the perfect venues and even the perfect wedding invitations.  But regardless of whether you decide you can’t live without the monogrammed napkins or if your style calls for a simple but elegant wedding, your wedding day will be one of the most amazing, emotional days of your life.  You will want to remember every detail of this day for years to come, and you will want a keepsake to look back on and to share with your children and grandchildren years from now.  It is so important to find a photographer who will capture every detail your wedding day with style, because the day will come and go before you know it, and you’ll be left with happy memories and your wedding pictures.   Because wedding photographs last a lifetime, I truly believe the wedding photographer is the second most important decision you will make for your wedding (of course the most important decision is your spouse-to-be!).  But if you’re not a photographer or a photo-enthusiast yourself, you may not know what to look for in finding the perfect wedding photographer.  I’ve put together a checklist you can use to help find a photographer that will give you wedding photographs to treasure for a lifetime.

The Wedding: Becky & Marc

Greenwood Indiana Wedding Photographer

This summer I had the privilege of being an assistant photographer at Becky & Marc’s wedding at the Indiana Roof Ballroom in Indianapolis.  Every detail was planned with care to make theirs a truly beautiful wedding.   Even the weather cooperated- the forecast was for rain all day, but the clouds broke for a few hours and we were able to make some photographs outside in the sunshine.  I’d like to give a special thanks to Karen Bowling Photography for having me assist in this wedding, and to the happy couple for agreeing to let me post some of the photographs I took at their wedding!
