Ashley & Peter – A Love Story

Indianapolis Wedding Photography - Wedding Portrait With Stained Glass

Last week I had the great pleasure of photographing Ashley & Peter’s wedding at Laurel Hall.  It was a cold but beautiful winter day with a slight dusting of snow on the ground, the perfect day for a December wedding.  Peter has been serving our country in Iraq, and Ashley is from out of state, so my first time meeting this happy couple was actually on their wedding day!  I couldn’t have asked for a nicer group of people, and we had a lot of opportunities to make some beautiful photographs in Laurel Hall.

Indianapolis Baby Portrait - Black and White

Liliana was born November 14 to my good friends Scott and Beth.  I was thrilled when they asked me to take some newborn portraits of her, partly because I love working with infants, and partly because it gave me a perfect opportunity to meet this special little girl.

Chicago

Sunday, December 6th, 2009

A lot has happened since my last post!  I have been on two vacations and numerous photography adventures, and I am very excited to share the results with all my readers.  I decided to post these adventures in chronological order, so I’m starting with my Halloween weekend vacation to Chicago.  My husband and I originally planned the trip to see one of our favorite bands, Poster Children, but we decided to stay an extra night just for fun.  This was the first vacation where I brought my tripod, but it definitely won’t be the last.

We sat on the pier and watched the fireworks display Halloween night.  It was incredibly beautiful to see the fireworks not only in the sky, but reflected in the water below.

We visited the Lincoln Park Zoo, and I had the rare experience of watching these two kangaroos wrestle.  I love the symmetry of their poses in this photograph.

Indianapolis Wedding Photographer - Example of Engagement Portrait

I met up with Courtney & Brock at Brown County State Park on a beautiful October day.  Brown County is a little farther than I normally drive for an engagement session, but the beautiful scenery was well worth the drive.  When Courtney and Brock told me they first got engaged in this park, I knew it would be the perfect location for their engagement pictures!

Elliot & Jonah – Fall Portraits

Monday, November 2nd, 2009

Elliot & Jonah have spent most of their years growing up in the south, so autumn in Indiana is a new experience for them.  Their parents were excited to have some photographs taken of the two brothers enjoying the fall leaves, and the boys were excited to play and explore as the world changed color.

Engagement Portraits - Indianapolis - Mallory and Ray

Some of my favorite moments as a wedding photographer happen months before the wedding, at the engagement session.  The engagement session is my time to spend time with the couple in a relaxed environment before the wedding day.  I learn their stories and their personalities while we explore fun settings to make these casual and creative portraits.  It was truly a pleasure getting to know Mallory and Ray at the Indianapolis Museum of Art on a crisp fall morning.  You can see their happiness and love for one another shining through the photographs!
